Ultimate Duramax Delete Kits
Unleash the true potential of your Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD. Stop letting restrictive factory emissions systems choke your engine, ruin your fuel economy, and leave you stranded in limp mode. At AutoMBC, we provide complete, all-in-one delete solutions for every Duramax generation from the legendary LB7 to the powerhouse L5P.
The Duramax Dilemma: Bulletproof Engine, Fragile Emissions
General Motors hit a home run when they paired the 6.6L Duramax V8 with the legendary Allison transmission. Mechanically, the engine block, rotating assembly, and transmission are built to easily surpass 500,000 miles. They are heavy-duty workhorses designed to tow massive fifth-wheel RVs, heavy equipment, and loaded horse trailers without breaking a sweat.
However, there is a massive catch. As the EPA mandated stricter emissions standards over the past two decades, GM was forced to bolt on a complex maze of exhaust filters and recirculation valves. Systems like the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) pump abrasive, hot soot directly back into your clean air intake. The DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) acts like a giant cork in your exhaust, forcing the truck to burn raw diesel just to heat up and clean the filter (Active Regeneration). The DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) / SCR system is notoriously unreliable, with frozen heaters and faulty sensors frequently triggering the dreaded "50 MPH Max Speed" limp mode message on your dash.
These systems generate extreme heat, destroy your fuel economy, contaminate your engine oil with carbon sludge, and cost thousands of dollars to repair at the dealership. An AutoMBC Duramax Delete Kit strips away these failure points, allowing your engine to finally breathe, run cool, and operate the way it was originally engineered.
Choose Your Generation: Custom Solutions for Every Duramax
Unlike other diesel platforms, GM has drastically updated the Duramax architecture multiple times. AutoMBC provides highly specialized, precision-engineered delete kits tailored to the exact requirements of your truck's specific RPO code.
2011-2016 LML (6.6L)
The LML was the first Duramax to introduce the DEF fluid system alongside the DPF and EGR. It is notorious for DEF heater failures, NOx sensor issues, and the ticking time bomb known as the CP4 injection pump.
Our LML all-in-one delete kits bypass all three emissions hurdles. By removing the restrictive 9th injector (which dumps fuel into the exhaust for regen) and deleting the DPF, you will instantly restore reliability and see massive gains in your MPG.
2017-2024 L5P (6.6L)
The strongest Duramax from the factory, but hindered by the uncrackable E41 ECM and hyper-sensitive electrical systems. Whether you have the 6-speed or the newer 10-speed Allison, deleting an L5P requires absolute precision.
Our premium L5P kits include critical CAN Bus Plugs to prevent dashboard errors and offer seamless ECM unlock solutions (via EZ Lynk or HP Tuners). Unlock 150+ hidden horsepower effortlessly.
2001-2010 (LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM)
The golden era of the Duramax. The LBZ is highly sought after because it lacks a DPF, but its EGR system still coats the intake in thick carbon. The 2007.5-2010 LMM introduced the DPF, heavily choking the exhaust.
Our kits for these older platforms focus on removing EGR coolers (preventing coolant leaks and blown head gaskets) and swapping out restrictive DPFs for high-flow, mandrel-bent stainless steel race pipes.
2016-2022 LWN 2.8L (Colorado/Canyon)
The "Baby Duramax" is an incredible mid-size diesel, but the DPF and EGR systems suffocate its tiny turbocharger, leading to awful turbo lag.
Our 2.8L delete kits wake this engine up completely. By opening up the exhaust, you will experience significantly sharper throttle response, faster spool times, and a massive increase in daily-driving fuel economy.
What Is Included in an AutoMBC Complete Delete Kit?
We take the guesswork out of building a reliable off-road rig. When you purchase an all-in-one bundle from AutoMBC, you receive every piece of hardware and software required to do the job right the first time.
1. DPF & CAT Delete Pipe
High-quality, mandrel-bent 4-inch or 5-inch stainless steel exhaust pipes. These direct-fit pipes replace the restrictive factory filters, dropping exhaust backpressure and EGTs immediately.
2. EGR Valve & Cooler Delete
CNC-machined billet aluminum block-off plates, heavy-duty silicone coolant reroute hoses, and precision hardware. Stop your engine from eating hot soot and prevent catastrophic coolant leaks.
3. Delete Tuner (EFI Live / EZ Lynk)
The essential brain of the operation. A specialized delete tuner flashes your ECM to turn off emissions sensors, prevent CELs, delete limp mode, and add custom horsepower tunes (SOTF available).
4. Essential Harnesses & Plugs
Depending on your year (especially L5P models), we include OEM-grade CAN Bus bypass plugs to seal off your factory wiring harness, preventing electrical shorts and communication codes.
The Performance Payoff: Top 5 Reasons to Delete
-
✓
Massive Fuel Economy (MPG) GainsBy eliminating the DPF active regeneration cycles (which spray raw diesel into the exhaust), your fuel economy will skyrocket. Most Duramax owners report an increase of 3 to 5 MPG.
-
✓
Unleash Hidden HorsepowerRemoving the massive exhaust restrictions allows the turbocharger to spool instantly. Pair this with a custom delete tune, and you can safely add 100 to 150+ horsepower and massive towing torque.
-
✓
Extend Engine Oil & Turbo LifeThe EGR system acts like liquid sandpaper, mixing abrasive soot into your engine oil. Deleting it keeps your intake manifold pristine, protects your turbo bearings, and keeps your oil clean between changes.
-
✓
Lower Exhaust Gas Temps (EGTs)High EGTs are the enemy of a diesel engine while towing. Free-flowing exhaust dramatically drops your operating temperatures, keeping your pistons and head gaskets safe on steep grades.
-
✓
Zero DEF Fluid & Limp Mode HeadachesNever buy another box of DEF fluid at the truck stop. More importantly, eliminate the complex sensors that randomly force your truck into 50 MPH limp mode while you are hauling a trailer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I absolutely need a tuner to delete my Duramax?
Yes. The hardware is only part of the equation. If you simply unbolt the DPF and unplug the EGR, the Engine Control Module (ECM) will panic when it cannot read the sensors. Your dashboard will light up, and the truck will enter limp mode. An aftermarket delete tuner is strictly required to rewrite the ECM code, turn off the emissions parameters, and safely recalibrate the fuel delivery.
Will deleting my Duramax affect my Allison Transmission?
The Allison transmission is incredibly robust, but when you add 150+ horsepower via a delete tune, you are pushing more torque than the factory TCM (Transmission Control Module) expects. For optimal reliability—especially on 5-speed and 6-speed Allisons—we highly recommend adding TCM tuning to your package. TCM tuning increases line pressure, ensuring your transmission holds the extra power without slipping clutches.
What about the LML CP4 Pump issue?
If you are deleting a 2011-2016 LML Duramax, you must be aware of the Bosch CP4 high-pressure fuel pump. It is prone to catastrophic failure, sending metal shards through your entire fuel system. While you are installing your delete kit, we highly recommend adding a CP4 Bypass Kit (or doing a CP3 conversion) to protect your newly deleted engine from a $10,000 fuel system repair.
